Privacy policy

Last updated: October 6, 2026

In short

  • We collect only what we need to fulfill your order, answer your questions and, if you ask, send you our emails and text messages.
  • We never sell your personal information or share it for advertising.
  • Checkout, payments and orders are handled by Shopify. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Our emails are sent with Klaviyo, using double opt-in, and you can unsubscribe anytime.
  • We send marketing text messages only if you’ve agreed to receive them. Reply STOP to any text to opt out.
  • You can ask us to see or delete your data at any time.

This policy explains how Gifts of the Holy Land (“we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects your information when you visit https://giftsoftheholyland.com, place an order, or sign up for our emails and text messages. If you have any questions, write to us at hello@giftsoftheholyland.com.

Information we collect

When you place an order

When you choose to check out, we send the pieces in your cart, any promo code you’ve entered and any gift note to Shopify, which runs our secure checkout. On Shopify’s checkout page you give your name, email address, shipping and billing address, phone number (if you give one) and payment details. Shopify processes your order on our behalf and shares its details with us, so we can prepare, ship and support it and send you receipts and shipping updates.

When you pay

Payments are processed on Shopify’s secure checkout, and by the payment provider you choose there, such as PayPal. Your card or wallet details (for example Shop Pay, Apple Pay or Google Pay) go directly to Shopify and its payment partners; we never see or store your full card number. We receive confirmation that the payment succeeded and a reference for your order. Shopify’s use of your information is described in its own privacy policy at shopify.com/legal/privacy.

When you sign up for our emails and texts

Your email address, your mobile phone number and, if you share it, your first name. Our emails are sent with Klaviyo, an email marketing service. We use double opt-in: after you sign up on our website, we email you a link to confirm that the address is yours and that you want to hear from us, and we only send marketing emails after you confirm. To show that you agreed, we keep a record of when you signed up and confirmed, where on our site you signed up, the consent wording shown to you, and the IP address used. How we use your mobile number is explained under Text messages (SMS) below.

If you tick the box on the checkout page to receive our emails, we treat that as your consent to receive them as well.

When you contact us

Your name, email address, order number (if you give one) and your message, so we can reply and keep a record of our conversation.

When you browse

Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps short-term technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) to keep the site secure and working. We do not use advertising trackers or sell browsing data.

To keep spam out of our sign-up and contact forms, we may use Cloudflare Turnstile, a check that runs in your browser to tell people from automated bots. To do this, Cloudflare processes technical details such as your IP address and browser information. It is not used for advertising.

Your cart and browser storage

We don’t use tracking cookies on this website. To remember your cart between visits, our site saves the items in your cart in your browser’s local storage, on your own device. We also store a promo code you’ve entered (so it can be applied at checkout), a gift note you’ve written during your visit, and whether you’ve closed our sign-up window. This information stays in your browser until you choose to check out, when your cart, promo code and gift note are sent to Shopify to start your checkout. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google’s servers and shares your IP address with Google when you visit. Shopify sets its own cookies on its checkout pages, for example to keep your checkout session and to prevent fraud.

How we use your information

  • To process, ship and support your orders, including returns and refunds.
  • To send order emails, such as confirmations, receipts and shipping updates.
  • To send our newsletter and offers, only if you’ve agreed to receive them.
  • To send marketing text messages, only if you’ve agreed to receive them.
  • To answer your questions and requests.
  • To prevent fraud and keep our site secure.
  • To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

Email marketing

Our emails include stories from the workshops of Bethlehem and Jerusalem, new pieces and occasional offers, such as your welcome code and seasonal reminders before Christmas and Easter. They are sent with Klaviyo. Every marketing email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe by writing to us. After you unsubscribe, we keep your email address on a suppression list only so that we don’t email you again by mistake.

Text messages (SMS)

When you sign up for our welcome offer, we ask for your mobile phone number. We send marketing text messages, such as your welcome code, new pieces and seasonal offers, only if you’ve agreed to receive them. Consent is not a condition of purchase.

  • Message frequency varies.
  • Message and data rates may apply.
  • Reply STOP to any of our texts to opt out at any time, or HELP for help. You can also write to us to stop texts.
  • Our texts are sent through Klaviyo, the same provider that sends our emails.
  • We never sell your mobile number, and we never share it with others for their own marketing.

Who we share it with

We never sell your personal information, and we don’t share it with others for their own marketing. We share it only with the service providers who help us run our shop, and only as much as they need:

  • Shopify, which runs our checkout, processes payments, keeps our order records and sends order emails.
  • The payment provider you choose at checkout, such as PayPal, to complete your payment.
  • Klaviyo, which sends our newsletter and text messages to subscribers who have agreed to receive them.
  • Shipping carriers, who receive your name and address to deliver your order.
  • Our website hosting provider, which runs our site and securely stores the messages and sign-ups sent through it.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our customers, our shop or others from fraud or harm.

How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as needed for tax, accounting and legal purposes. We keep subscriber details, such as your email address and mobile number, until you unsubscribe (plus the suppression record described above), and contact messages for as long as needed to help you. When information is no longer needed, we delete it.

Keeping it safe

Our site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS), payments are handled entirely on Shopify’s secure checkout, and access to customer information is limited to the people who need it to serve you. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your information.

Your rights and choices

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you and send you a copy,
  • correct information that is wrong,
  • delete your information, unless we must keep it for legal reasons (for example, records of an order), and
  • stop sending you marketing emails or text messages.

Depending on where you live, such as in California or the European Union, you may have further rights under local law, including the right to complain to a data protection authority. To make a request, email hello@giftsoftheholyland.com. We’ll reply within 30 days, and we may ask you to confirm your identity first. We will never treat you differently for exercising your rights.

Children

Our shop is meant for adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, please contact us and we’ll delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the date at the top of this page, and if the changes are significant we’ll let subscribers know by email.
